It’s hard to believe but the queen of post-millennial teen pop, Britney Spears,  has just turned 30.  She turned the big 3-0 on Friday Dec 2nd and spent it ice skating with her boyfriend Jason Trawick.

Spears told Glamour Magazine, “I think the older you get, the wiser you get.  I can’t wait. I’m really excited and I am definitely going to celebrate and do something spectacular. I’m gonna be in South America so I’ll have to do something pretty fun. A carnival of Britney?”

When she and Trawick were done ice skating, she gave a free show at the Revolution Monument in Mexico City.  It is hard to believe that it has been over a decade since she broke out with “…Baby One More Time.”  Since then she has done everything from selling out venues of major US casinos like the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to her current worldwide Femme Fatale tour and who can forget that kiss with Madonna or other legendary moments of her career?

Not all the recent news about Britney is good though.  Well, that depends on how you look at it.  Recently, reports swirled around a rumor that Britney has fired her personal trainer Derek DeGrazio.  While the split was “amicable”, the incident apparently surrounds her not wanting her diet restricted anymore.

While she is indeed a bit bigger than she used to be, she definitely isn’t a porker by any standards.  Her trainer apparently isn’t terribly upset over the incident as felt that Britney made him look bad after she cheated on the diet he setup for her.

It’s not like Spears has a sedentary lifestyle.  She will be perfectly fine, and even if she isn’t, Jenny Craig always can use another celebrity spokeswoman.

All in all, we should all celebrate our eternal Pop Princess has gotten into a new stage of her life and Britney Spears, the popstar we all love, ain’t over yet.

The second episode of Glee’s season two, “Brittany/Britney”, that paid homage to Britney Spears aired yesterday (September 28) on FOX Channel.

- Early reports for ratings show that the episode gave FOX it’s highest-rated Fall comedy telecast in eight years among Adults (18-49), that is the public that “interests” FOX, on this point the show put FOX as the leading tv network on American television yesterday. The record in adults viewers makes the episode the most profitable in the history of Glee on the advertisements perspective.

- On viewers, “Brittany/Britney” had a total of 13.33 million viewers, second only to the fourteenth episode of Season one.

- As many of you may know, Glee releases their cover versions to iTunes as soon as the episode airs, and currently, Britney covers are dominating iTunes Top 20:
1. Toxic (Glee Cast Version) – Glee
6. Stronger (Glee Cast Version) – Glee
8. …Baby One More Time (Glee Cast Version) – Glee

- The original version of “Toxic” (by Britney) jumped hundreds of spots on iTunes to #96 (where it is currently), not bad to a 6 years old song.

- On The Top Albums of iTunes, “Greatest Hits: My Prerogative” from Britney enters the Top 50 at #43, could it possibly re-chart on The Billboard 200 next week? Let’s hope!

- Britney appearances were very briefly, she appeared as a dream to 3 of the Glee members:

Britney Spears’ second studio album “Oops!…I Did It Again” completes today 10 years since it’s release on May 1, 2000. This album skyrocketed Britney’s international superstardom level, selling over 20 million copies worldwide, it also carries two of Britney’s biggest hits ever: “Oops!…I Did It Again” and “Stronger”.

“Oops!…I Did It Again” sold over 500,000 copies in the first day of release, and 1,319,000 copies in the U.S.A. during the first week, becoming the biggest sales week for a female artist in history of The Billboard 200 Albums chart, later it was certified Diamond for selling over 10 million copies only in the U.S.A.

The album had 4 singles: “Oops!…I Did It Again”, “Lucky”, “Stronger” and “Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know”, the first one earned a Grammy nomination for “Best Female Pop Vocals”

Britney’s sophomore album, included “Dear Diary”, the first track written by Britney to make the final cut in an album of hers (since “…Baby One More Time” had no tracks written by Britney).

The album sailed over 2 million copies worldwide in it’s week of release, and is the 6th best-selling album in the U.S.A. since the year 2000 and 5th worldwide.

The lead-single, with the same title as the album, holds the record for most spins in U.S. pop radio in a single day, It was an instant Top ten hit on radio, and later #1.

Critic-wise, Rolling Stone praised the rock influences in the album and All Music rated the album 4 out of 5 stars with positive arguments.

Congratulations to “Oops!…I Did It Again” and for Britney and her (then) team of producers and label for making an album with such impact in pop culture and the music industry.

Hooray! ‘Womanizer’ takes the throne of the United World Chart, moving up to #1 this week. This is Britney’s 10th single to go #1 on the United World Chart. Can you say that about your favourite artist? Congrats to Brit!

‘Womanizer’ and ‘Circus’ are both huge in the US right now, receiving massive airplay on CHR/Pop stations all over the US. The december chart freeze, which freezes up the airplay charts from mid-December to mid-January because of year-end countdowns and such, seems to have no effect on the smash airplay hits that are ‘Womanizer’ and ‘Circus’. As ‘Womanizer’ is still getting great updates, it has moved up to #3 on Mediabase and some people say it might even go #1 on Mediabase soon, this means that it will be her first single to go #1 on Mediabase US Pop Airplay charts since ‘Toxic’ in 2004!

‘Circus’ has smashed it way into the Top 40 on Mediabase, getting almost 1000 spins (radio plays) in this last week only!
