Reps from popstar Britney Spears and hotel-heiress Paris Hilton has told U.S. press the reaction of the superstars in statements over illegal use of their image on a presidential campaign by John McCain against Barack Obama.

“Miss Hilton was neither asked, nor did she give permission, for the use of her likeness in the ad, and has no further comment,” A Paris Hilton rep said in a statement.

A rep from 42West public relations, who currently represent Britney, said also in a statement – “why would we want to get Britney Spears involved in presidential politics? Britney’s got enough politics going on in her life, the last thing she needs is more.”

The controversy has at least made promotion to the White-House competitors, and also Paris and Britney you should sue McCain NOW!

Barack Obama’s rep, Tommy Vietor, told People Magazine : “On a day when major news organizations across the country are taking Sen. McCain to task for a steady stream of false, negative attacks, his campaign has launched yet another” – in addition a joke related to one of Britney’s biggest hits ever talking about McCain - ”Oops!He Did It Again”

Counter’s McCain campaign strategist Steve Schmidt: “It’s beyond dispute that [Obama] has become the biggest celebrity in the world. But do the American people really want to elect the biggest celebrity in the world?”

In the ad, images of Spears, Hilton and Obama appear on the screen as a voiceover says, “He’s the biggest celebrity in the world. But is he ready to lead?”McCain’s campaign manager says they chose to include Spears and Hilton in the ad because the women’s names came up second and third in a search for the top three international celebrities in the world.
